Experience Gift Ideas in Brisbane
Are you looking for the best gift ideas for experiences in Brisbane?
It’s that time of year when we are all looking up gift ideas while trying not to purchase more things that will take up space.
While I am known for giving experience gifts, it is sometimes hard to come up with new ideas. Well, for me, the issue is generally the budget. I can come up with all kinds of experience gift ideas, but they aren’t always budget-friendly.
If you are looking for the best experience gifts in Brisbane this year, hopefully my list will help you. Whether you are looking for a child or an adult, there are lots of fun things to do.
Keep reading to find the best experience gifts in and around Brisbane.

Experience Gifts for All Ages
See a Show

One thing I gift my kids each year is theatre tickets to a show at QPAC. Most years, they have a kid-friendly show near the holidays.
They have their schedule up in advance, so you can see what shows would be of interest.
Some of the smaller theatres in Brisbane have great shows too, including 12th Night Theatre, Brisbane Arts Theatre, and the La Boite Theatre.
If you are looking for something different, check out the events in the Underground Opera. They don’t have events often, so grab tickets early if you see an event pop up.
Eat Dinner 17 Metres Above the Ground
Anyone 10+ can experience Vertigo, a restaurant at the Brisbane Powerhouse.
Each booking includes a 3-course meal and drinks for 2 guests. You can add the “walk the plank” way to get down, by scaling down the side of the building.
There are height and weight requirements to experience Vertigo, and you need to be able to climb stairs. Wheelchair users can enjoy Vertigo as well, on a special wheelchair.
Throw an Axe

A great group experience gift (or really, for a single gift as well) is axe-throwing. Check the minimum age. When we went, kids needed to be at least 11 years old.
There are a few places to go axe-throwing in Brisbane. I have been to Maniax in the CBD, but there is also Lumber Punks in the West End.
Climb Story Bridge

Did you know that there are fewer than 10 bridge climbs in the world? While the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb is more famous, you can also climb the Story Bridge.
You only need to be 6+ to climb the Story Bridge. We climbed when the kids were 7 and 8.
Find out what to expect on a Story Bridge Climb.
Kayak Down the Brisbane River
You can gift a kayaking tour down the Brisbane River to anyone 8+.
They can see Brisbane from the river as they follow a guide on a 90-minute tour.
Throw Paint

A splatter paint room is a fun experience gift for all ages!
Rose Soiree has a splatter room at its Fortitude Valley location, and I can say from experience, it makes a great gift.
Take a True Crime Tour
Looking for a gift for a true crime lover? Take them on a tour!
Learn about Brisbane’s dark past with this night tour in the CBD or a tour through Fortitude Valley.
These tours are family-friendly, and kids are welcome to join.
Another option is a ghost tour. There is a ghost tour in the Brisbane CBD for anyone 10+, and a ghost tour in a Toowong cemetery that includes a book to take home.
This is what my daughter chose for her 12th birthday gift, after attending a ghost tour when we were in the US.
DIY a Tour
You don’t need to purchase a tour; customize your own.
I made a vanilla slice tour for my husband one year. One fun and free option for the kids would be to find fairy doors.
Attend a Concert
Check and see who is coming to Brisbane and purchase concert tickets.
The larger Brisbane concerts tend to take place at Suncorp Stadium and the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, but be sure to check out smaller locations like Tivoli, Princess Theatre, and Fortitude Music Hall.
Cheer on Your Favorite Team

Brisbane is the home of so many sports teams. Gift tickets to their favorite team, favorite sport, or even to see a sport they’ve yet to experience live.
Options include:
- Brisbane Broncos
- Brisbane Lions
- Queensland Firebirds
- Brisbane Roar
- Brisbane Heat
- Queensland Reds
- Brisbane Bandits
- Brisbane Blaze
We got my daughter Queensland Firebird tickets, and it was fun for the whole family. She loved being able to share her gift with us.
Spend the Day at a Theme Park

Sure, you will need to leave Brisbane, but it’s an easy drive to the Gold Coast theme parks.
Give a day at Movie World, Sea World, or Dreamworld. Annual passes make a great gift, too.
Find the Brisbane Burglar

This is another experience gift that is great when gifting to a group of people. My family tried to catch the Brisbane Burglar when our kids were younger, and we all had fun, but this is probably best with teens and adults.
This experience includes walking around the Brisbane CBD and solving clues.
Eat Your Way Through Sunnybank
Did you know that there is a food tour in Sunnybank?
My family took this tour, which was fun for all ages. We went during Chinese New Year, so our tour was a little bit different, but I know that it is well worth it year-round.
Escape Rooms

Yet another good option for a group experience gift is an escape room. We have been to a few in Brisbane, and it is best with a small group.
The kids and I, along with our friends, escaped from the Alice in Puzzleland room at Escape Hunt in West End. Of all the rooms we have done, it is the most kid-friendly.
They also have adult-themed rooms if your group is all 18+.
Brisbane has lots of escape rooms, including many family-friendly options.
Climb Up or Rappel Down Rocks

If you are looking for a gift for an adventurous person, what about rock climbing at Kangaroo Cliff Point? Another option is rappelling down the rocks.
If you are purchasing for a child, they usually need to be 8+, but the sunset rappelling option is for 12+ only.
Go Whale Watching

They’ll have to wait for whale watching season, but it is always nice to have something to look forward to.
The closest tour to Brisbane is at Redcliffe Jetty, but there are all kinds of whale watching tours near Brisbane.
Visit a Camel Farm

You can feed the camels, ride them, take a tour, and even try camel products at Summerland Camel in the Scenic Rim. If you are looking for a unique family-friendly experience near Brisbane, check them out.
Read our review to find out what to expect at Summerland Camel.
Paint Pottery
There are a few places around Brisbane where you can paint pottery, including Our Space, The Ceramic Studio, Mas & Miek, and Mud 2 Mug.
Another option is to gift a workshop. All of the above businesses also offer clay workshops, including wheel throwing, hand-building, and kids & teen classes.
Class Bento also offers pottery classes and other art classes.
Enjoy High Tea

What about gifting high tea?
You can go together, or you can gift the experience as a voucher.
If you aren’t sure where to go, check out Brisbane’s best high tea.
Take a Ride on the Mary Valley Rattler

It is a bit of a drive, but if you are gifting an experience to a train lover, it is worth the 2-hour drive to ride on the Mary Valley Rattler.
The train station in itself is an experience. They have a restaurant and a small museum.
In addition to the regular trains, they also offer special events, including murder mysteries and holiday events.
Read about our experience on the Mary Valley Rattler Steam Train.
Go Ziplining

Tree Top Adventures has a few different spots near Brisbane that offer ziplining for kids as young as 3.
My kids have been on the junior courses at Tamborine Mountain and the Big Pineapple. They have also been on the regular course at Tamborine Mountain.
Each course has both a junior course and a regular course. They aren’t just ziplining, but ropes courses as well. There is a course that is all ziplining, but you need to be above a certain weight and height to complete it.

Compete at Hijinx Hotel

Hijinx Hotel is a lot of fun, and the perfect group experience gift.
Their challenge rooms fit up to 6 at a time.
The Chermside location has 2 different sides. You can gift one side or both. Each side takes about 20-30 minutes to complete.
You can be surprised, or you can find out what to expect at Hijinx Hotel.
Experience Interactive Game Play
Kind of similar to Hijinx Hotel, but also very different, is EKPE’s interactive gameplay.
You sign up for the amount of time you want to spend there, and then your team enters a room where they can choose from more than 500 different interactive experiences.
Play Miniature Golf

Brisbane has lots of options for both indoor and outdoor courses. Some have unique themes, and others change themes throughout the year, based on the holidays.
Check out all of the places to play putt-putt in Brisbane.
Learn to Surf

Our first year in Brisbane, we gifted the kids surf lessons on the Gold Coast.
All ages can take a lesson to see if surfing is a one-off or something to pursue.
Skydive Indoors

A fun and unique experience for all ages is to go indoor skydiving.
Kids as young as 3 can participate.
Limited Time Only Experiences
Prison Island
Teams of 2-5 can play together in a group to take on 35 challenge cells on Prison Island.
This event will be on through March 2026 in Fortitude Valley, and anyone 7+ can play.
During a 90-minute-long game, your group will work together to solve clues and go through both physical and mental challenges.
The Jury Experience
With dates through June 2026, The Jury Experience is perfect for anyone 12+ who has always wanted to be in a courtroom.
Held at The Old Museum, this show is interactive, and you are on the jury!
Brisbane’s Theatre of Magic
Head to Rydges Fortitude Valley for a magic show, on through May 2026.
Held on Saturday afternoons, this is a family-friendly event for those 10+. You can purchase food and drinks at this event, and the VIP ticket includes a drink and front row seating.
The Friends Experience
Fans of the TV series Friends will love The Friends Experience in Brisbane in 2026.
I went when the event was in Melbourne and highly recommend it. Want to know what to expect? Read my review.
Experience Gifts for Adults
Go to a Comedy Show
Did you know that Brisbane has multiple comedy clubs? In addition to the Brisbane Comedy Festival each year, you can see comedy year-round.
Check out the schedules at Sit Down Comedy Club and Good Chat Comedy Club and decide which show would make the best gift.
Tour a Brewery

Have a beer lover to shop for? Send them on the XXXX Brewery Tour.
You can purchase a ticket for yourself, too, gift multiple tour passes, or simply gift a ticket for one. Just note that everyone needs to be 18+.
This includes a 90-minute tour through the brewery, beer tasting, and a memento to take home.
Another option is to tour multiple breweries. This option is more expensive, but it also includes lunch.
Head to a Winery

If wine is more their thing, there are a few wineries that you can visit near Brisbane. You even have options to meet at the winery or have transportation included.
One option is to sit back, relax, and get a ride to Mount Tamborine from Brisbane. A small group will visit 3 wineries and a distillery, enjoy a 2-course lunch, and experience the beautiful mountain views.
If you have your own ride, Sirromet Winery offers a Winery Tour & Tasting Experience that includes lunch and a Wine-Tasting Tour that does not include a meal.
For those who aren’t interested in the tour, Sirromet Winery also offers a food & wine pairing, so you can experience the views and atmosphere but skip the learning bit.
Create Your Own Wine Blend
You don’t need to leave Brisbane to have a wine-tasting experience. Give a wine blending experience at City Winery.
The person receiving the gift will be able to create their own blend with the help of a sommelier. Then, they can take a bottle of their wine home.
They also get a charcuterie plate to eat during the wine blending workshop.
Take a Cooking Class
Enjoy dinner and an activity with a cooking class. Brisbane offers a few options, including:
Another option is to check Class Bento to see what cooking classes are currently on offer. With Class Bento, you can book a specific class or gift a voucher.
Pretend You’re in Italy

Did you know that you could take a gondola ride down the Brisbane River?
We rode the Golden Gondola during a promotion that included Domino’s Pizza, but usually, the Golden Gondola is more of a date night experience.
The price is per couple and can include food & drinks.
Pretend You’re on Holiday

You don’t need to spend a lot to experience a day by the pool at one of Brisbane’s hotels. See which hotels offer day passes this summer.
Another option would be to book one of Brisbane’s best hotels.
Listen to a Concert in the Candlelight

By this time, I am sure you have seen ads for a candlelight concert, but you might not know what to expect.
My daughter and I attended the Beatles candlelight concert. You can go on a date night, with friends, or with kids.
Paint and Sip
Pick a theme and gift not only an activity, but also a take-home painting. Make it even better and be the one to provide the drinks and snacks during the event.
There are all kinds of paint-and-sip experiences in Brisbane. Here are a few:
Float
Does the recipient of your gift need to relax?
Book them a floating session. Some options in Brisbane include:
Spa Day
I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t appreciate a spa treatment. You can gift a particular treatment or just get a voucher for a local spa.
Facials, massages, manicures, whatever your budget, there are options.
Experience Gifts for Kids
Get Annual Passes to a Science Museum

Did you know that if you have an annual pass to Sparklab at the Queensland Museum, you also get in free to Queensland Museum Rail Workshops in Ipswich?
One year, our family had an annual pass, and it was so much fun for the kids.
For travelers, this annual pass includes entry to museums around Australia.
Visit Animals

Take the kids to White Ridge Farm for a unique experience that includes a visit with llamas, alpacas, sheep, goats, and other animals. There is a train ride, a tractor ride, and mini-golf as well.
Of course, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is another great place to visit animals. You can make a day out of it and take a boat there. Another option is to add one of their animal experiences. They also have a camp over the Brisbane school holidays.
Find the best places near Brisbane to see Australian animals.
If you are looking for something different, check out Naughty Little Kids. It is a goat farm near Ipswich where you can book a tour and tasting of goat milk products. You also get to feed baby goats!
Paradise Country
One place that has been on my list for a while is Paradise Country. I want to glamp there, but they also have day passes.
At Paradise Country, you can see Aussie animals, go on a tractor ride, go opal mining, pan for gold, and see a show.
Go Gem Mining

Did you know there are different types of gem mining?
Some types are geared towards younger kids, while others are better for the older kids and teens.
Check out gem mining near Brisbane to find the best place for you.
Gift a Camp
There are lots of different types of camps during the Brisbane school holidays.
My kids have gone to camps for theatre, chess, nature, and netball.
Jump

Kids love to jump on trampolines, and both Bounce and Urban Xtreme offer open gym times.
Urban Xtreme also has memberships, which would make a great gift.
Skate

You can gift a physical gift of skates, along with skate classes, or just free skate.
My kids love their roller skates (and I know they’d love ice skates too).
While I wish there were skating closer to the Brisbane CBD, there is a roller rink called Skateaway in Albany Creek and an ice skating rink, Ice World, in Acacia Ridge and Boondall.
Swim and Slide

Did you know there is a little waterpark in Brisbane? Sure, you can gift a pass to Wet’n’Wild on the Gold Coast, but for those who want to stay local, check out Chermside Aquatic Centre.
In addition to multiple pools, they have large water slides, medium-length slides, and small slides in the kiddie pool. The water park is open on weekends and school holidays.
You can purchase one one-time entry or get a season pass for the summer.
Ride the Wheel of Brisbane

Now that I have ridden on the Wheel of Brisbane, I can say it is a fun experience. I mean, it is a giant Ferris wheel with beautiful views.
The downside is the price, but that is why it makes a great experience gift.
Brisbane Experience Gifts Wrap Up
Experience gifts are the best sort, and Brisbane offers a variety of fun activities, including museum passes, sporting events, art workshops, concerts, and tours.
Whether you want to gift a particular event or a voucher for an event, you will have plenty to choose from.
Hopefully, you were able to use this list to find a fun, practical experience to gift this year.
