Tree Top Adventures Ziplining at The Big Pineapple Kids
Did you know that there is a ziplining course for small kids at The Big Pineapple on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast?
The Gold Coast also has a junior ziplining course at Tambourine Mountain.
Do you have daring kids who love adventures? There are multiple places to take kids as young as 3 to do ropes courses and ziplining near Brisbane.
We took my kids to both the Big Pineapple course and the Mount Tamborine course when they were younger.
Keep reading to find out more about ziplining at The Big Pineapple on the Sunshine Coast and ziplining at Thunderbird Park on Tamborine Mountain (plus other fun places to zipline nearby).
Tamborine Mountain Ziplining with Kids
When my oldest turned 7, she wanted to go ziplining for her birthday.
It wasn’t her only request, and luckily, we found Thunderbird Park. Thunderbird Park at Tamborine Mountain has so many things for families to do, including rock fossicking, gem mining, and my kids’ absolute favorite, ziplining.
Tamborine Mountain is about an hour south of Brisbane, so it makes for an easy day trip.
Little Miss 7 and her 5-year-old brother were able to climb their way between trees and swing over our heads on the cutest junior ropes course I have ever seen.
Read about our visit to Thunderbird Park at Tamborine Mountain, and all about our experience ziplining here.
Tree Top Adventures Ziplining at the Big Pineapple

Treetop Adventures opened another ziplining course. This one is at the Big Pineapple, which is about an hour north of Brisbane.
Like their course on Tamborine Mountain, there is a Junior Course.
The Junior’s Course at the Big Pineapple is for children ages 3-9, while the Tamborine Mountain Junior’s Course is for children ages 3-7.
There are 5 levels with 70 obstacles at the Big Pineapple’s Sunshine Coast location and 4 levels with 50 obstacles at the Tamborine Mountain location.
The Junior Ziplining Course at the Big Pineapple

We showed up early and checked in. There is a short walk down to the Junior Course.
There are 3 time slots available each day. The 2-hour time slots are at 9, 11:30, and 2.
We chose 11:30 so that we would not have to be in a rush to get there. There are picnic tables under the check-in area, and we sat there to eat lunch before the kids’ ziplining time began. We did not want them to be hungry and miss out on some of their ziplining time.
After they ate, we walked down to the Junior Course.
Unlike at Tamborine Mountain, the Junior Course is near the Adult Course. The Adult Course goes over the Children’s Course in places.
The Junior Course has 5 levels.
The staff fits the children with their harnesses and helmets and then there is a safety talk. Parents stand nearby, but they can not hear most of what is said. Parents are given their safety talk by another staff member.
All of the kids start on level 1. It is low to the ground and has a short zipline. After each child completes level 1, they close it and move on to level 2.
There are 5 levels of difficulty in the Junior Course at Tree Top Adventures at the Big Pineapple.
The kids go through each level in order, completing level 4 twice before moving on to level 5. Once the kids have gone through each level, they can go through any level they want.
My kids love the harder levels as they have longer ziplines, but sometimes they like to do the easier levels as they can run through them.
Ziplining Group Size
There is no guarantee of how many kids will be signed up for each time slot.
The first time we tried to book ziplining at the Big Pineapple, we waited too long (as I couldn’t decide on which time we wanted) and they sold out all the time slots.
There were only 6 kids at 11:30, which was a little surprising as it was a Sunday during the school holidays.
The morning session was full, which meant 25 kids. There were a lot of young kids in that group, and young kids usually go slower.
My kids are 6 and 7.
Unlike the kids who were ziplining with us at Tamborine Mountain, every kid in this group was confident and moved quickly through the ropes courses.
It just depends on the date and time that you choose as to who else is in the group.
Watching the Kids Zip Line

The best part about Treetop Adventures, as an adult who is just watching, is the shade.
There is plenty of shade under the courses.
There are no seats, but there are logs that you can sit on.
As the group was small, there were not many parents walking around, so we had plenty of space.
One person had kids on both the junior course and on the adult course, and they were able to see all of their children, at least part of the time.
The kids start and finish each course in the same spot, so it is easy to bring them water. Even though it is shaded, the kids are active the entire time and get sweaty.
The Adult Ziplining Course
Children as young as 8 years old can join in on the adult ziplining course.
They need to be at least 160cm tall with their hands over their head. That is to hold on while on the ropes courses.
One big difference in the courses is the amount of help kids receive on the junior course. They help the kids on and off each course by attaching and taking off the safety bar.
There are 5 adult courses of varying difficulty at the Sunshine Coast (Big Pineapple) location.
Adult ziplining (and for older children) is also available at Tamborine Mountain and Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, which is on the Gold Coast, about an hour south of Brisbane.
Children need to be 8+ for all of the adult courses with Tree Top Adventures. Children under 14 need to zipline with an adult.
