How to Spend a Day in Teneriffe, Brisbane
Are you looking for things to do in Teneriffe?
The Brisbane neighborhood of Teneriffe may be small, but there are plenty of things to do there.
Located north of New Farm, east of Fortitude Valley, and south of Newstead, Teneriffe is a quiet neighborhood on the river, and one of Brisbane’s most expensive suburbs.
Teneriffe used to be the home to lots of wool stores and factories. Teneriffe always gives me Meatpacking District (New York City) vibes, though it is way less crowded and there aren’t any nightclubs. In addition to the wool stores and factories, Teneriffe had the largest submarine base in Australia during World War 2.
From 1975 to 2010, Teneriffe was considered to be Newstead, but it became its own suburb again in 2010. The former wool store and factories have been turned into apartment buildings. While there are shops and restaurants in Teneriffe, it is mainly a residential area.
Teneriffe is a beautiful suburb with large brick buildings, lots of trees, and a path along the river. Despite the large factory buildings, the area of Teneriffe is quite small at only 0.9 km2 (or 0.3 square miles). Whether you are going to Teneriffe for a meal, a walk, or for the whole day, there are plenty of ways to spend the day in this small Brisbane suburb.
When I have a day to myself, Teneriffe is often at the top of my list as a location to wander. Keep reading to find out how to spend a day in Teneriffe.

Teneriffe does not lack delicious breakfast spots.
For those who want a quick breakfast, Unbearable Bagels has bagels and black coffee. It is important to know that they don’t have milk or sugar in their coffee, though it is available hot or iced. Tea is also available. The bagel menu is much larger than the drink menu at Unbearable Bagels. Vegan and gluten-free options are available.
Danny’s Bread also has bagels, as well as pastries and bread.
If you would rather sit down for a while and order a full breakfast, Kin and Co and Barko and Co are two great options.
Kin and Co is open for walk-in service on weekdays, take-away on Saturdays, and closed on Sundays. Mimosas and Bloody Marys are available with breakfast after 10 a.m.
A large variety of coffee, tea, smoothies, juices, and milkshakes are also available at Kin and Co. The breakfast menu at Kin and Co is large and includes delicious dishes such as strawberry cheesecake hotcakes, shakshuka, and a breakfast burger.
A kid’s menu is available, as are gluten-free and vegan options.
Barko and Co also have a large drink menu, including coffee, tea, juice, and smoothies, as well as cocktails, beer, and wine served after 10 a.m.
The all-day breakfast menu at Barko and Co isn’t large but includes delicious options such as French Toast with ice cream and berries and huevos rancheros.
There are gluten-free and vegan options at Barko and Co, and they are also open for lunch.

Play in Teneriffe Park
Teneriffe Park has a playground, a “secret” playground, bushwalks, BBQs, and picnic tables. There aren’t toilets at Teneriffe Park.
If you take the path down from the playground, stay to the left. The stairs are steep, and the right side does not have stairs all the way down. Both paths meet up at the bottom of the hill, where there are 2 swings, fully fenced in. There is a picnic bench nearby.
If you take the 3rd path up (the one all the way on the right), it does not lead back to the playground. It leads to a tree swing. There is no direct path back to the playground. You can retrace your steps or use the sidewalk to walk back.
