Ziplining Adventure with Kids: How to Choose Where to go (near Brisbane)
About 2 weeks before her birthday, my daughter started talking about going zip lining.
We had already planned to go gem mining as she asked but decided to make it a gift from the grandparents.
There are a few places to go ziplining nearby, but I only found one place that allows younger children so that both of my kids could go.
Also, this is the only place that my daughter could attend that has a pretty and shaded location.
The 3rd reason we chose Thunderbird Park is that there are plenty of other things to do right there.
*In the time since the kids went ziplining, another course specifically for kids has opened near Brisbane. The Big Pineapple on the Sunshine Coast has a Junior Course for kids 3-9. Check out our review here.
The Junior Course at Thunderbird Park

The junior course is designed for children ages 3-7. They get a 2-hour time frame and can do the course as many times as they want in those 2 hours. There are 3 available time slots each day.
We showed up a few minutes early and the staff fit the kids with their harnesses.
After that, a staff member talked to the kids about safety rules while another talked to the parents about what to expect.
There are 4 levels, each one going up in height and in difficulty. Each child starts on level 1 before going to levels 2, 3, and 4.
Once they have been on each level, they choose the level they want.
Some children may choose to stay on the lower levels until they are more comfortable.
We saw a few nervous children and even ones who cried and did not start on time. However, every child participated.

My children did the course for the entire 2 hours.
They went back and forth between the levels. Levels 1 and 2 were quick and they could race through them. They liked levels 3 and 4 because they were harder. Each level ended with a zip line.
Where the Parents Watch Their Kids Zipline
The area is shady and very pretty. There are a few benches and seats for the parents to sit and watch after they stop following the children around.
I was joking with my daughter about getting a zip line Tamborine Mountain has plenty of fun things to do with kids in addition to ziplining. We have taken quite a few day trips to Tamborine Mountain, and it would make for a great weekend escape from Brisbane.
