The Birdcage Hotel is a popular pub in Longreach, and while their kids’ playroom isn’t huge and doesn’t have a playground, our kids were happy to have a place to play while we waited for our meals.
Open for lunch and dinner daily, The Birdcage Hotel serves typical Aussie Pub food including schnitzels, parmis, burgers, and steak. Pizza is available during dinner service. Salads, bowls, and pasta dishes are also on the menu.

Little Star Indian

The kids’ playroom at Little Star Indian Restaurant doesn’t look like much, but it entertained my kids the entire time.
With crafts and puzzles, they had no problem finding something to do.
Little Star Indian Restaurant is open for dinner daily and lunch on Sundays. Their menu includes traditional curries, samosas, and naan as well as pizza, burgers, and wraps.
The kids’ menu at Little Star Indian only includes chicken nuggets and chips, though our kids split a pizza.

Longreach RSL
The Digger’s Inn Bistro at Longreach RSL is open for lunch and dinner daily. Menu options include schnitzels and parmis, burgers, pasta, steak, and vegetarian options.
The kids’ menu at The Diggers Inn Bistro includes beef lasagna, steak, chicken nuggets, and fish and chips. All of the kids’ meals include ice cream.
The RSL also has 2 playrooms for kids, making it a very kid-friendly restaurant in Longreach.

Darcy’s Diner

There’s nowhere to play inside Darcy’s Diner, but they have a great kids’ menu and plenty of options for food that is ready immediately during breakfast, lunch, and dinner time.
Darcy’s Diner is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day except Sunday.
Breakfast is served all day at Darcy’s Diner and includes egg dishes, smashed avo, and even a breakfast burger. The lunch and dinner menu has burgers, pizza, seafood, steak, sandwiches, and fried chicken.
The kids’ menu at Darcy’s Diner includes pancakes, eggs, and a breakfast burrito for breakfast. The lunch and dinner menu has sandwiches, burgers, and sausages with chips.
Sandwiches, salads, fruit, pastries, and desserts are always available in the front, and a quick hot meal is located in the back of the restaurant.
Oasis Bar and Restaurant
Located at Albert Park Inn, Oasis Bar and Restaurant serves breakfast and dinner daily, except on Thursdays.
The kids’ menu at Oasis includes chicken nuggets, calamari, and fish and chips.
On Sundays, Oasis and Darcy’s Diner host a pizza, pasta, and parmi buffet at Oasis. Kids under 5 eat for free at the buffet.
McGinness’ Restaurant

Located inside the Qantas Founders Museum, McGinness’s Restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch daily.
Coloring sheets and colored pencils for kids are available on the counter. Just ask for a box of colored pencils if you don’t see any there.
McGinness’s Restaurant menu items include eggs, granola with yogurt, and fruit toast for breakfast and sandwiches, salads, quiche, and hot meals for lunch.
The kids’ menu includes eggs with bacon and toast for breakfast and the choice between chicken nuggets or a cheeseburger for lunch. Quick grab-and-go meal options are also available.

The Welcome Home Cafe and Restaurant

The Staging Post has a restaurant called The Welcome Home, and it is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner depending on the season.
From April to October, The Welcome Home offers a buffet breakfast with both hot and cold options.
The Welcome Home also holds a smoko with scones and tea.
Depending on the day of the week, The Welcome Home has different dinner options. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, the restaurant has a stone grill dining experience, and on Wednesday and Saturday nights, they serve country classics.
Each dinner ends with an all-you-can-eat dessert buffet.
