Arriving in Longreach, Queensland

If you are staying at The Staging Post, let them know what time you arrive, and their complimentary van will pick you up from the Longreach Airport or the Longreach Train Station.
We arrived by train from Brisbane, and the Staging Post van was there to pick us up, along with everyone else who was staying at the hotel that arrived on the train that day.
Checking In at The Staging Post Hotel

The lobby of The Staging Post is not open 24 hours a day.
We arrived after the check-in desk had closed for the day, so the shuttle driver gave us all the information we needed as well as our keys.
If you arrive after the check-in desk has closed and aren’t planning on taking the shuttle bus, contact the hotel so they have a way to check you in when you arrive.
Our family checked out before the reception desk opened.
The reception desk is located across the street from the rooms at The Stables and is in the same building as the hotel’s shop and restaurant.
From April until October, reception at The Staging Post is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and in the off-season, reception is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Rooms at The Staging Post Hotel


There are 2 different areas of The Staging Post: The Coach Inn and The Stables.
The Coach Inn has queen-bed rooms that sleep 1-2 guests. The rooms in this part of the hotel are considered 3.5 stars and are decorated with country-style Australian decor.
Rooms in The Coach Inn have a kitchenette that includes a microwave and refrigerator. They have a shared outdoor area.
The rooms in The Stables are considered 4-star and consist of two types of rooms. The triple room at The Stables has a queen bed and a twin bed, while the family room at The Stables has a queen bed in a separate room and 3 twin beds.
The family room at The Stables has a kitchen that includes a refrigerator, microwave, stove top, cooking utensils, and serveware. The room also includes a large dining table.
Triple rooms at The Stables have a kitchenette, like the rooms at The Coach Inn.
Every room at The Staging Post has air-conditioning, an ensuite, and a TV. Free wifi is available in all rooms.
The Welcome Home Restaurant

Located in the lobby area of The Staging Post is a restaurant that is open for a buffet breakfast Monday to Saturday from April to October, and for dinner on Tuesday to Saturday during the same months.
The lobby of The Staging Post serves coffee and snacks.
Breakfast
Breakfast is included in some holiday stay packages, and is also available as an add-on.
The breakfast buffet at The Staging Post includes both hot and cold items such as toast, cereal, fruit, yogurt, eggs, bacon, and sausages, as well as a variety of hot side dishes.
Unlimited coffee and tea are included.
Dinner
For dinner at The Staging Post’s restaurant, The Welcome Home, there are 2 options. Guests can book the Stonegrill Dining Experience or the Country Classics Dining.
Stonegrill Dining Experience is available for dinner on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday nights.
During the Stonegrill Dining Experience, meals are cooked at your table. Choose from a meat, fish, or vegetarian option. Sides, salads, and sauces are available, as is an all-you-can-eat dessert bar.
Non-alcoholic drinks are available to purchase, and alcohol is BYO.
On Wednesday and Saturday nights, Country Classics Dining is available at The Staging Post’s Restaurant, The Welcome Home.
Country Classics includes a main meal with sides and a dessert bar. Vegetarian and gluten-free items are available with advance notice.
Recreation Options at The Staging Post

The Staging Post is also home to Outback Pioneers, a tour company in Longreach.
Options include a Cobb and Co Stagecoach Experience, Nogo Station Experience, Starlight Dinner Cruise, and a Sunset Stagecoach Ride. There is also a day tour to Winton.
The Old Time Tent Show is not currently running, but check back if you are interested. Unfortunately, our show was canceled a few days before we arrived.
Also, check back for Pioneer Pictures, where you dress up in pioneer clothes and get a photo taken. It was not running during our visit to Longreach.

The Staging Post Hotel Wrap-Up

The Staging Post is near shops and restaurants on Longreach’s major road and includes its own shop and restaurant.
There are 2 different types of rooms in 2 different locations, though they are near each other. The bigger rooms are located in The Stables are set up with unique decor both inside and out.
Outside of the rooms, there are stagecoaches on display. Though there is no parking in front of the rooms, plenty of parking is available for free on the street just outside.
The Staging Post helps set the scene of Outback Queensland and is a fun place to stay during a visit to Longreach.
