Just a few minutes’ drive down the road from central Byron Bay, there is a caravan park with campsites, cabins, and fun things to do.
Discovery Parks Byron Bay is the perfect location for exploring Byron Bay but staying away from the crowds. Whether you are bringing your caravan or tent or just want everything set up for you, there are quite a few options at Discovery Parks.
We opted to stay in a 2-bedroom cabin during our stay at Discovery Parks Byron Bay, which we planned as a last-minute getaway from Brisbane.

Accommodation Options

Discovery Parks in Byron Bay has plenty of options and a variety of accommodations. There is a 2-night minimum for each type of accommodation, including the campsites.
Unpowered campsites are small, medium, or large. Only tents can be at a small or medium unpowered campsite.
Each cabin has a kitchen. Most of the cabins have bunk beds. Cabins also have outdoor space with a table and chairs.
The deluxe safari tents have a kitchenette that includes a refrigerator and microwave. They have an ensuite with a toilet and shower. On the porch, there is a BBQ.

Check-In
Guests can check into Discovery Parks Byron Bay from 2 pm to 5:30 pm. The office is located outside the gates leading into the holiday park. Parking is available right outside the office.
At check-in, visitors get a map of the holiday park and a code to the front gate. The code is one of a kind and must be used to both enter the park and to exit.
Pools

Discovery Parks has 2 swimming pools.
The larger swimming pool is partially shaded and has shaded seating around it. The shaded area is shallow and perfect for smaller kids. This pool is located next to the splash park and jumping pad.
The smaller pool isn’t shaded, though the trees shade it during part of the day. A few chairs are located around the pool.
Each pool is fenced in.

Splash Park

The splash park at Discovery Parks has multiple slides and water features, including a giant bucket that fills up and then tips out water on those standing below.
A few chairs are set up in front of the splash park, including shaded lounges.
The splash park is fenced in and separated from the pool by a fence.
Jump Pad

The jumping pad is fenced in and located near the splash park and one of the swimming pools. It is completely shaded.
There are open hours listed outside, and each day there is a 30-minute session for those under 4 only.
Tennis and Basketball Court

Near the splash park, there is a tennis court that also has a basketball hoop. There are lights at night for those who want to play on the tennis court.
Camp Kitchen and BBQ

Discovery Parks Byron Bay has 2 camp kitchens and multiple public BBQs.
Each Camp Kitchen has multiple refrigerators where guests can store their food as long as it is labeled with their name, site number, and departure date. The refrigerators and freezers are cleaned out each Sunday.
Kitchens have multiple ovens, sinks, and other items for use.
Covered seating is available directly outside the camp kitchens, and picnic tables are throughout the park.

Multiple BBQs are available around the park as well.

Restaurant

Right outside the gate to Discovery Parks Byron Bay is Folk, a cafe that is open for breakfast and lunch daily.
Folk is a vegetarian cafe with vegan and gluten-free options available. There is both indoor and outdoor seating.
I picked up coffee from Folk each morning.

Discovery Parks Byron Bay Wrap-Up
Discovery Parks is gated and walkable. Many kids bring bikes and scooters to get around easily.
While the pools and splash park are fenced in, the lakes are not.
To enter Discovery Parks, whether in a car or by walking, you need a code to the gate. Be sure to enter the code when you leave, or you will be unable to get back in.
Folk, a vegetarian coffee shop, is located right outside the gate and is open for breakfast and lunch daily.
All of the cabins have kitchens. The safari tents have kitchenettes. Everyone is welcome to use the camp kitchens and the BBQs that are scattered throughout the park.
Occasionally, classes are held at Discovery Parks, such as Sunday morning yoga.
