YHA Sydney Harbour

Check out the view of the Sydney Opera House from the roof and sleep in a family room at YHA Sydney Harbour, The Rocks.

For families who want an ensuite, they offer a king plus two, which means bunk beds. If you don’t mind sharing a bathroom, and you don’t mind bunk beds, you can book an entire room for 4.

Sydney Central YHA

For families who prefer budget accommodations but still want to be near the city, be sure to book the Sydney Central YHA early!

There are 2 options for families at this YHA. The queen + 4 with an ensuite or the entire 4 with a shared bathroom.

Even though we just have 4, and the room sleeps 6, my family would prefer the queen room with 2 sets of bunk beds, as it has a private bathroom.

If you don’t mind sharing, and have 4 or fewer in your family, you can stay in the entire 4-room, which means that you are booking the whole room and not sharing with strangers.

This hostel has a restaurant, an indoor swimming pool, laundry, and a 24-hour desk.

Apartment Style Hotels

SKYE Suites

You can opt for a studio, 1-bedroom, or 2-bedroom at SKYE Suite.

The 2-bedroom suites have either a queen or double bed in each room. All rooms include a kitchen for those families who prefer to cook some of their meals while traveling.

Meriton Suites

There are a few Meriton Suites in Sydney, and I can say without a doubt that they work well for families. My family stayed in a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom suite at the Meriton on Sussex Suite for 2 weeks in 2020 when we first moved to Australia.

Up to 6 guests can stay in a suite at Meriton Suites, which offers studios, 1,2, and 3 bedroom apartments. Rooms have kitchens, laundry, and balconies.

There is an indoor swimming pool and fitness centre at each Meriton Suites location.

Mid-Range Hotels with Family Rooms

Macleay Hotel

Up to 6 guests can sleep in a family room at Macleay Hotel, which offers views of the Sydney Opera House.

Their two-bedroom apartment with a terrace has a queen bed, a full bed, and a bunk bed. Other family-friendly options include a triple studio, which sleeps up to 4.

In addition to having family rooms, Hydge Park Inn also offers free parking.

There are lots of options for different types of family rooms at Hyde Park Inn, and they sleep 4-5 guests. All options include a variety of beds, including twin beds for the kids.

When I think of a family room, this is exactly what I think of. It is one room with multiple beds in it, not the standard 2 double or queen beds that you normally find in a hotel.

Some of the rooms have kitchenettes. Others include a continental breakfast.

The Grace Hotel

The Grace Hotel is near the top attractions and has an indoor swimming pool.

The Four Seasons
