Regal Airport Hotel Hong Kong Review
Are you thinking about staying at the Regal Hotel at the Hong Kong airport and want to know what it’s like?
My kids and I stayed at the Regal Airport Hotel on a 24-hour layover from New York City to Brisbane. Having flown on a 15-hour flight from NYC, I knew we would be tired, and I wasn’t sure if we would be up for exploring.
We made the best decision for us. I was traveling solo with the kids. We had visited Hong Kong less than a year earlier. In the end, it was a rainy day.
The Regal Hotel is located inside the airport. You do not even need to go outside.

Book Your Stay
If you are ready to book your stay, book it now! I like to go back and forth between hotels, but in this case, if you want to stay at the airport in Hong Kong, this is it.
The Regal Airport Hotel is connected to the Hong Kong Airport and is worth booking on an overnight layover.
We found the airport hotel to be reasonable, especially considering it is in Hong Kong, where accommodations are expensive.
Arriving from the Airport

As you exit customs and enter the lower level of Terminal 1, turn left and follow the signs to the Regal Airport Hotel.
Right before you reach the end of Terminal 1, there is a pathway on the right that leads to the hotel. You will walk above the street and can see many taxis waiting on the street.
The walk takes just a few minutes.
Hotel Rooms

The Regal Airport Hotel offers rooms for up to 4 guests. Options include:
- family rooms
- spa deluxe rooms
- cabana rooms
- suites
- duplex suite
- presidential suite
- executive club rooms
If you are only going to be there during the day, the Regal Airport Hotel offers a day pass.
While we booked 2 queen beds, we were given a family room upon arrival. This was perfect for us as it was just me with my 2 kids.
Swimming Pools

While there are 2 swimming pools at the Regal Airport Hotel, the indoor pool was closed for renovations during our stay.
To get to the swimming pools, you need to enter through the locker rooms near Om Spa. You can get towels in the locker room.
The locker room has a steam room and a sauna.

Near the steam room and sauna is a machine that will dry your bathing suit quickly. This is perfect for travelers who want to swim before their flight and don’t have time to let their bathing suits dry.
Om Spa
OM Spa at the Regal Airport Hotel offers facials, scrubs, and massages.
You can book your treatment in advance or walk in. The spa is open late, which is perfect for travelers.
Fitness Centre

Near the pool and spa is a fitness centre, which hotel guests are welcome to use.
It includes cardio equipment and weights. There is a water machine in the gym.
Restaurants
Regal Airport Hotel has quite a few restaurants, though we found them to be more expensive than we wanted to pay.
As it was just the kids and me, and we were off schedule, we opted to walk back to the terminal to eat. For dinner, we picked up noodle soup and ate it in our room.
While we were offered a discount on the hotel breakfast at check-in, we decided to skip it. As we woke up extremely early, the only place open in the airport terminal was 7-11. We grabbed coffee, onigiri, and milk, and took them all back to our room.
For second breakfast a few hours later, I walked back into the terminal, purchased congee, and took it back to our room. The hotel is so close to the terminal that this is easy to do.
Terminal 1 has many sit-down restaurants, take-out counters, and shops. There is a 7-11. Most of the restaurants have Asian food, but there is a Pret A Manger as well, where you can find Western salads, sandwiches, and desserts.
That being said, if you prefer to eat at the restaurants at Regal Airport Hotel, there are lots of options!
Regal Patisserie

As soon as you enter the hotel from the airport skywalk, you will see Regal Patisserie.
This is where you can order desserts, including ice cream, cakes, and pastries. They also sell coffee, sandwiches, and snacks.
Café Aficionado

Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily, Cafe Aficionado is known for its buffet.
Some room deals include the breakfast buffet. We got an offer for discounted breakfast at check-in, but opted out.
In addition to the breakfast buffet, they have an à la carte menu.
Each buffet has a mix of Asian and Western items.
Rouge

Rouge serves Cantonese and Sichuanese cuisine during lunch and dinner daily.
My kids loved the table under the waterfall and wanted to eat at Rouge.
They have a dim sum menu, a set meal, and an à la carte menu.
The China Coast Bar and Grill

The China Coast is a bar and grill that is open for dinner and late-night meals daily.
They specialize in Western meals, including pasta, burgers, pizza, and steak.
If you are looking for something to do during your stay at the Regal Airport Hotel, there is a pool table right outside the China Coast Bar and Grill.
Dragon Inn

The Dragon Inn serves Shanghainese cuisine, though it was temporarily closed during our stay.
Getting into Hong Kong City
If you are staying at the Regal Airport Hotel and want to explore Hong Kong, you can easily take the train or a taxi from the airport.
The Hong Kong Airport even offers free layover tours for those with a layover of at least 7 hours. You must be in transit, and you must have the proper entry requirements to be in Hong Kong.
For those interested in the layover tour, book it ahead of time. While they do take walk-ins, it tends to book out in advance. I thought about it for too long, and the spots were filled when I went to sign us up.
You can reserve your spot up to 3 months in advance.

Regal Airport Hotel Wrap Up
While I am usually up for exploring, staying at the Regal Airport Hotel during an overnight layover in Hong Kong was the best decision.
Having just a short walk to our hotel after such a long flight was amazing. It did not matter what the weather was like; we were able to get to our hotel without even going outside.
The Regal Airport Hotel offers a wide variety of room options and has everything you need under one roof.
You can go swimming, get a spa treatment, work out in the gym, lounge in the lobby, eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner, or relax in your room.
If you have a late-night flight into Hong Kong or an early morning flight elsewhere, the Regal Airport Hotel is easy to reach, budget-friendly, and worth spending a night at.
