Monopoly Dreams Hong Kong: What to Expect
Are you planning a visit to Monopoly Dreams in Hong Kong and want to know what to expect once you get there?
Monopoly Dreams is located at the top of Victoria Peak in Hong Kong, and is one of the many different activities you can do there.
My kids are big Monopoly fans, and we thought Monopoly Dreams sounded fun, but we weren’t sure what to expect.
In the end, we spent longer than the suggested time inside, and I still had to convince my kids to leave.

Getting to Monopoly Dreams

Monopoly Dreams Hong Kong is located at 118 Peak Road on level 3 of Peak Galleria.
You can get to Monopoly Dreams by taking the peak tram, by bus, or by minibus.
We opted to take the tram, which was extremely crowded that day. As we had not pre-purchased tickets, we booked them online quickly to avoid the long line at the ticket counter.

Opening Hours
Monopoly Dreams Hong Kong is open daily from 10 am to 8 pm, with the last group heading in at 7 pm.
Tickets
Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door. All tickets have a timed entry, though you can stay inside as long as you would like, until closing time.
You can prepurchase your Monopoly Dreams Hong Kong tickets through Klook.
Entering Monopoly Dreams

Each ticket has a timed entry, and your time at Monopoly Dreams begins with a group.
Our group was small, just the 3 of us and another couple.
First, you take an elevator ride to Mr. Monopoly’s office.

In Mr. Monopoly’s office, you can see many different Monopoly boards from around the world. They also have the world’s largest car token.
This part is like a museum. You can read about Monopoly for as long as you would like before entering the game room.
Monopoly Dreams Set-Up

Once you are inside, you can stay as long as you’d like. They say that it takes about 45 minutes to get through everything in Monopoly Dreams.
The center of the room is generally empty, except for the road that leads you from one room to another.
There are different stations set up throughout the room, and plenty of photo opportunities.
You are welcome to go in any order, though the first stop is the money grab, as you need the guide to start it.
Monopoly Ultimate Banking

Everyone who enters Monopoly Dreams gets a turn in the money booth, where you try to grab as much Monopoly money as you can during the time limit.
There are 5 booths, so 5 players can try at a time, though I asked to go after my kids so I could get photos of them.
The money that you get in this game can be used as a discount in the store or in the cafe.

Train Station, 4D Ride Theatre

One of the rooms at Monopoly Dreams Hong Kong is a theatre that plays a 4D movie.
You can put on 3D glasses, strap in, and enjoy the ride!
The movie is about Mr. Monopoly finding the diamond thief and bringing him to justice.
Water Works

Water Works ended up being my son’s favorite room at Monopoly Dreams, though it wasn’t mine.
The room is set up as a game in which the city is in danger, and you have to turn wheels to save it with fresh water in a plumbing maintenance game.
Monopoly Property

Everyone with a ticket to Monopoly Dreams can make their own game card. You can enter your name as the owner, but you do not get to choose which property you want.
Unfortunately, one of my kids typed their name in quickly and incorrectly, but luckily, I hadn’t made my card yet, so they had another chance.
After your card is printed, you can stamp your card with the official seal.
Go Directly to Jail

Of course, one of the rooms at Monopoly Dreams Hong Kong is the jail.
You can pretend you are in jail and take pictures. They have a bunch of signs to choose from if you want to pose with a sign.
Also in the jail is a game where you can catch the thieves.

Interactive Game Screens

Throughout Monopoly Dreams, there are quite a few areas with touchscreen games. They are usually grouped 2 with the same game.
Photo Opportunities

Monopoly Dreams is one big photo opportunity for those who want to take a lot of pictures.
The couple that started the tour with us took pictures the entire time. They didn’t appear to be playing anything; they just used their time to take photos of each other.
While we took pictures, it was mostly me taking pictures of the kids while they played.
The Vault

When you have completed all of the rooms at Monopoly Dreams, played all the games, and taken all the pictures that you want, it is time to enter the vault.

The vault has more photo opportunities, including a green screen where you can take photos.
There are also games you can play.

Everyone gets a chance to “own it all.”
We won a few different prizes, but none of which we ended up using.

We won discounted snacks, but in the end, decided not to get anything. We did not end up using the money we caught in the money grab game either.

After you leave Monopoly Dreams, there is a cafe and a shop. You do not have to pay to enter Monopoly Dreams to access the cafe or shop.

Of course, my kids wanted everything, but we felt like it was all overpriced. Plus, this was the beginning of our 3-week holiday, and we did not want to carry anything with us.
My son bought a souvenir coin, but that’s it.

Monopoly Dreams Hong Kong FAQ
I think this one is hard to answer because it depends on who is asking. For my kids, yes, Monopoly Dreams was worth it. In the end, you have to understand that it isn’t meant to be more than an hour-long experience.
It takes about 1 hour to get through Monopoly Dreams. Of course, you are welcome to stay longer if you’d like.
There are quite a few different activities at Monopoly Dreams Hong Kong, including interactive games, a 4D movie experience, and photo opportunities. The entire space is themed, and you are welcome to stay as long as you’d like to complete all of the activities.
Monopoly Dreams is family-friendly, but adults will have fun too. The games are fun for all ages, as is the 4D movie. I especially enjoyed the money grab game.

Monopoly Dreams Wrap-Up
I had Monopoly Dreams Melbourne on our list of places to go, but they did not open until after our last visit, so I was happy to see that they also had one in Hong Kong.
We did not plan on going to Monopoly Dreams in advance; it was just on a list of things we might do. In the end, it ended up being one of my kids’ favorite activities on our whole 3-week holiday.
They say that Monopoly Dreams takes about an hour to complete, and I agree. I would probably have been there less than an hour if I didn’t have kids. Had they been able to play as long as they liked, my kids would have been there double the time.
There was enough to do to keep my kids happy, and I was generally entertained, but I am unsure how much fun it would have been with just adults. Sure, we would have played the games, but we would not have spent nearly as much time inside.
