Jamming Bangkok Bike Tour Review + What to Expect
Are you thinking about going on the Jamming Bangkok Bike Tour and want to know what to expect?
My family wanted to go on a bicycle tour on our trip to Thailand, but we weren’t sure about riding bikes in Bangkok, as it is a busy place, and our kids were just 9 and 10 years old. After looking at a few different bike tours, we chose the Jamming Bangkok Bike Tour as it seemed to be more off the main road.
To be honest, my husband didn’t read much about it, and he thought we would be taking a 20-minute bike ride. Luckily, he was wrong, and the ride lasted, on and off, for hours.
Jamming Bangkok Tours has multiple bike day tours as well as tuk-tuk tours and e-scooter tours. We took the Bike and Canal Boat Tour with Lunch, which is rated medium difficulty and lasts 3.5 hours.

We used Cover-More Insurance for our holiday to Thailand.
Booking a Tour
I knew I wanted to ride bicycles during our holiday in Thailand, but my husband was a little bit apprehensive as our kids are young.
As this was a last-minute trip for us, we didn’t plan much and usually decided what to do a day or two in advance.
We scrolled through Klook, Viator, and Get Your Guide, trying to decide on a bicycle tour in Bangkok that didn’t go down the busy streets.
In the end, Mark chose Jamming Bangkok’s Bike and Canal Boat Tour with Lunch, as our daughter really wanted to go to a floating market, and due to time, we didn’t want to go to one of the larger, popular floating markets further out of the city.
This tour is limited to 10 guests, which is a good size.
I didn’t write down the name of the tour on our holiday, and while researching, it appears that this tour is not on the Jamming Bangkok website, though there are similar options. This tour can be booked through Klook, Viator, or Get Your Guide.
I have used all 3 websites, and as it is the same tour and it does not appear on the direct website, I would just book on whichever website you are most comfortable with or the cheapest option (which was Klook when I was looking).
Tours are available in both the morning and the afternoon, daily.
Arriving at the Jamming Bangkok Bike Tour Office

We took the 9 am tour, which meets at the Jamming Bangkok office at 253/6 Thanon Itsaraphap, Khwaeng Wat Tha Phra, Khet Bangkok Yai, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10600. They say that if you take a Grab, just say you are going to Jamming Thailand Tours.
The office is off the main row, on a quiet street.
Once we arrived, we were welcomed and fitted for bicycles. They have kids’ bikes as well as bike seats for smaller children. They also have helmets.
Our group consisted of our family of 4, another family of 4 with teenage children, and 2 friends. We had a guide as well as someone who rode behind the last rider to make sure that we were all okay. All in all, there were 12 people.
We all received a bottle of water at the beginning of the tour.
Riding Bikes in Bangkok

Pretty soon after leaving the office, we found ourselves on a main road. It looks from this picture that no one is on it! I only took photos when I felt safe enough to.

We rode down many small laneways, sometimes passing people on motorbikes.
Locals often came out to wave to us, and they especially loved seeing my son. He got a lot of cheers and even a pat on the back as he rode past.
Stopping at a Market

Our first stop of the day was at the Talat Plu Market. Our guide explained some of the different foods and offered to buy some for us to try.

After our time at the market, we jumped back on the bikes and rode to Wat Khun Chan. We had time to disembark while our guide talked about the area and the statues.
Wat Khun Chan is located on a river, and we had time to watch the boats go past.

From Wat Khun Chan, we rode the bikes to Wat Pak Nam. We were given plenty of time to wander through the multiple levels before we were to meet up with our group.
This is a good time for a bathroom stop as well.

After meeting back with our tour group, we got back on the bikes and continued to ride around Bangkok.

Just about all of the bike ride is flat, but there are some tight areas. This ride is best for those who have bike riding experience and generally feel comfortable on a bike.
At one point, you need to walk the bike upstairs, over a bridge. They say that you must be able to do this alone, but the guides did help us.

At one point in the ride, my son and I fell behind the group.
They took off from a temple, and he did not get going fast enough. My family had decided to be last in the group for the day. Mark was the first, followed by our kids, then me.
Luckily, there is a guide at the end. He went in front of us to show us the way to the group. We quickly caught up, especially as they had stopped as soon as they had realized we were missing.

Lunch at The Artist House

We were each given another bottle of water at lunch and had 4 items to choose from. Lunch was chosen earlier in the day so that it would be ready when we arrived.
We could choose either veggies, chicken, or pork fried rice, yellow curry, massaman curry, or basil. They also gave us fruit for dessert at the end.
My kids both chose fried rice. I opted for the spicy basil chicken, which came with rice and an egg.
After we ate, we had a bit of time to wander around and check out the shops. We saw that there are art classes offered at The Artist House. Had we stayed in Bangkok longer, we would have checked them out.
Just to note, lunch is early. The tour is 3.5 hours long and begins at 9 am, which means it ends at 12:30. Lunch is not at the end.
One member of our tour was not impressed with the early lunch, but the rest of us happily ate.
Canal Boat Tour

My daughter wanted to go to the floating markets. Mark and I had visited them on our first visit to Bangkok in 2009. Due to the price and location, we opted to just stay in Bangkok.
One of the reasons we picked this bike tour is that they mentioned floating markets.
We boarded a boat, as did the bicycles, and we headed off on a nice ride.
At one point, a boat with merchandise pulled up to us. This is considered a floating market. We all shook our heads no. No other boats approached us, much to my kids’ dismay.
If you are looking for the true tourist floating market, this is not it.
Ending the Tour

At the end of the boat ride, we got on the bikes to ride back to the office, where we had begun the day.
Bangkok Bike Tour Wrap Up
There are many different bike tours in Bangkok. While it was tough for us to pick one, our whole family was happy with the morning Bike and Canal Boat Tour with Lunch by Jamming Thailand.
Our guide was friendly and informative. The tour was exactly as advertised. (Not as it was told to me by my husband, but I later looked at the details to confirm it was not meant to be a 20-minute bike ride). We had a great day.
While the ride is generally on flat ground, this is not a bike ride for beginners. Due to tight spaces and sharing the small alleyways with motorbikes, I would only suggest this tour for those who are comfortable riding a bike.
