Streets Beach is open year-round, and lifeguards are on duty depending on the time of day and the time of year.
Streets Beach is located next to Boat Pool and Aquativity, which are also free. Boat Pool is a swimming pool, and Aquativity is a splash area and a wading pool with rocks for children to play in.
Toilets and change rooms are located near Streets Beach, as are many restaurants. While there are shops nearby that sell swimsuits and towels, it is obviously best to bring your own.

The Best Free Things to Do in Brisbane with Kids
Boat Pool

Located next to Streets Beach, Boat Pool is another free swimming pool in Southbank, Brisbane.
Boat Pool tends to be emptier than Streets Beach. As does Streets Beach, Boat Pool has lifeguards depending on the day and time.
Seating is available around the Boat Pool. Toilets and change rooms are located nearby, as are shops and restaurants.
Wynnum Wading Pool

A huge wading pool is located in Wynnum, about a 30-minute drive east of Brisbane City.
Wynnum Wading Pool has 1 slide at the end and bench seating surrounding the entire pool. Additional benches are around the pool, located next to the ocean, as are picnic tables, BBQs, and toilets. Restaurants are nearby, and sometimes food trucks are at the Wynnum Wading Pool.
Wynnum Wading Pool is always free to swim in. There are no lifeguards.

Settlement Cove Lagoon

40 minutes northeast of Brisbane is Settlement Cove Lagoon, located in Redcliffe on Moreton Bay.
Settlement Cove Lagoon is always free and has a fenced-in swimming pool and splash area for young children in addition to the large lagoon swimming pool.
Also, for kids, Settlement Cove Lagoon has a shallow area with rocks where kids can splash and play.
While Settlement Cove Lagoon is open 24 hours a day, lifeguards are only on duty from 7 am until 6 pm during spring, summer, and autumn.
Orion Lagoon

About a 30-minute drive southwest of Brisbane is Orion Lagoon, an extremely large swimming pool that offers free admission.
In addition to the large swimming pool at Orion Lagoon, there are smaller connected pools. Some of the smaller pools are shallow pools for kids, and others have play features.
During opening hours, lifeguards are on duty.
Orion Lagoon is open from 5 am until 9 pm during the spring and summer months and from 7 am until 5 pm during the autumn and winter months.
A little bit of shade is provided, but be sure to bring your own if you want to guarantee a shady spot. The umbrellas and sun-protected areas are usually taken early in the day.
A cafe with food and drinks is located at Orion Lagoon and there are toilets, change rooms, and showers.
