AmazingCo Spring Challenge: Couples and Family Edition
After completing AmazingCo’s Family Date Night Challenge, my 7-year-old has repeatedly asked for another family challenge. She is even willing to complete the same one again.
Originally, I signed up for a Mystery Picnic through AmazingCo, but it got postponed due to a lockdown in our city. As the lockdown went from a few days to a week, I decided to plan for a Family Date Night Challenge to end the school week.
As an AmazingCo affiliate, I was gifted the Family Date Night Challenge. You can read my review here.
I paid for the Mystery Picnic and rescheduled it for when lockdown lifted.
There were definitely similarities to the two events and my 7-year-old loved solving the clues and puzzles of the Family Mystery Picnic.
Recently, I saw that AmazingCo is having a Spring Challenge for families and another one for couples. I decided to surprise my family with the Spring Family Challenge.
Shortly after signing up, AmazingCo gifted me a Spring Couples Challenge.
While it isn’t something that I would have signed up for, I am excited to see what the couples challenge includes.
Like many couples with children, we do not have a lot of time alone. It mainly consists of an hour after the kids go to bed when we sometimes watch a show together.
Who should sign up for an AmazingCo Family Challenge or an AmazingCo Couples Challenge? -Any one who wants to have fun with their family and/or significant other -People who like to compete for prizes -Those looking to spend more quality time with their family and or/significant other
AmazingCo Spring Challenge
It still boggles my mind that October is spring here in Australia.
AmazingCo is available in various countries and there is also a fall challenge going on in the northern hemisphere.
There are 2 options when signing up.
The first option is a digital option for $30. They send you the information digitally. You can print out the scoreboard and mark off the activities as you complete them.
The second option costs $75 and includes a game kit mailed to you. The kit includes a magnet and stickers for each challenge. They also send you treats and items to help with the challenges.
Of course, I went back and forth on which option to order, but in the end, I figured that for our first challenge, the digital one would do just fine. The kids won’t know what they are missing.
For the couples challenge, they made sure to get both of our phone numbers.
I was told that challenge information would be sent on September 30, the night before the challenge officially began.
Week 1 AmazingCo Spring Challenge
Just like they said, I received an email on September 30.
The email has a link and a password to enter.
Each challenge came with a PDF of the scoreboard which I printed out. I do not mind not having a magnet and stickers. The paper will work just fine for our family.
Week 1 Family Challenge
I read the family challenge first, and of course, little Miss 7 is the most excited of the bunch.
There are 3 family challenges each week and then a flash challenge.
Week one’s activities include planting a sunflower seed, stargazing, and making giant bubbles.
We live in an apartment in Brisbane. Luckily we have a balcony and a roof deck which will make these activities a little bit easier.
They give you additional ideas on how to make the activities fun for the whole family. Of course, you should take pictures to document the fun and share on social media to be in the competition to win prizes.
Week one’s flash challenge involves making a human pyramid. I know the kids will have fun with that one.
Week 1 Couple’s Challenge
I won’t lie, I was a little bit overwhelmed reading the couple’s challenge right after the family challenge.
Let’s be honest. I am the person who will be doing the majority of the work. It will be me getting the supplies, initiating the activities, taking the photos, and submitting everything on social media.
I had to remind myself that we have a whole week to complete these activities.
My plan is to just read them the first night and complete them as the week goes on.
The couple’s challenge is set up similarly to the family challenge. It also has 3 challenges and a flash challenge.
The 3 challenges have the same themes each week.
One is always a date night (which is when I got nervous as we don’t often get date nights).
The second challenge is a solo challenge, but we are not yet sure what that means.
The third challenge has to do with games and competition.
This week has us stargazing, planning and playing in our version of a decathlon, and doing whatever a mystery text tells us to do. We are supposed to keep the text a secret from each other.
Our flash challenge has yet to be revealed. It just says that we will receive a text on Saturday and it will be a timed challenge.
That has me wondering about the family text challenge. There isn’t a time limit given. I am sending the kids to bed with the intention of not completing a family pyramid until this weekend.
Week 1 Game Plan
Now that I (kind of) know what to expect, I am making a game plan.
New Challenges are sent every Thursday.
My hope is that we complete them on the weekends. That gives me extra time to post pictures and make sure that we are able to complete each challenge.
My plan is to update here each week.
Week 1 Solo Challenges
For some reason, I thought the solo challenges would be the same for both of us, but that is not the case.
I was instructed to make an origami box and write a love note inside.
Mark’s text told him to bring home my favorite dessert.
I am definitely the winner this week!
Week 1 Thoughts
I found sunflower seeds at the shop and tried to buy them, but I wasn’t spending enough to use my card and I didn’t have cash. This is where purchasing the premium package comes in handy.
Each challenge has a deadline of a week, but the flash challenge is supposed to be posted on social media, to be eligible for a prize, earlier. I posted the family picture early, but I misread the couple’s challenge and do not have an appropriate picture to post.
We still have today to get a picture of us with a yellow flower and one of us not touching the ground. We thought our feet weren’t supposed to touch the ground so we sat down and lifted our feet.
It just so happened that we went out of town this weekend (A Quick Country Mountain Escape from Brisbane with Kids) and it was the perfect place to stargaze. We even spotted Jupiter, Saturn, and Venus. I have had the Stargazing App for years and highly recommend it.
I realized that we only NEED to post 1 photo, the flash challenge, each week. We can postpone the other challenges if the week gets away from us
Of course, we don’t NEED to do anything, but I like winning things and having that photo in on time is how you enter the competition to win prizes.
The most fun couples challenge this week was the decathlon. We had to come up with 10 “events” to play against each other. We actually ended up winning 5 each.
Maisie is determined to complete the couples challenge as well. She found our list of events and is making Mark complete them against her, and she is writing down who wins.
She found my solo challenge as well and is insisting that she gets to make one too.
AmazingCo Spring Challenge Week 1 Prizes
Week one family challenge winners won a gardening set.
Week one couple’s challenge winners won a $150 Uber Eats gift card.
AmazingCo announced the winners as well as runners-up. We did not place this week in either challenge.

Week 2 AmazingCo Spring Challenge
I received a text and email for this week’s challenges in the evening on Thursday as promised.
Week 2 Family Challenge
This week, we have to bake cupcakes, go on a picnic, have a teddy bear hunt, and take a sunset silhouette picture.
We are in a temporary living situation and don’t have a cupcake pan. I won’t buy one for this challenge so I will have to figure out how to make cupcakes without one.
My kids absolutely love hiding their stuffed animals and having someone find them, so they will be thrilled to do this. This is the easiest one of the week for us.
I appreciate that AmazingCo offered 2 ideas for different-aged children. Our kids will do the teddy bear hunt and families with older kids will compete in a sock wrestling match.
Week 2 Couples Challenge
For week 2, we are supposed to paint a picture of each other, record a video on how we met, and wait for 2 challenges to be texted to us.
Our flash challenge is themed ‘higher and higher” whatever that means.
*After rereading the challenges (I had to read them to Mark), I realized that we are supposed to go on a date that is reminiscent of our first date. The videos are for us to watch before the date.
I actually like that more, as I get a date out of it. I mean, I am sure the kids will be there, but still, I don’t have to cook dinner that night.
Week 2 Game Plan
Today is Friday and I am feeling much better about these challenges. Like last week, I was overwhelmed when I received the messages.
Like I said last week, as the mom, I am the one who does all of the planning.
Next week is Book Week at school and we are trying to figure out costumes. Maisie wants to enter a writing contest. I am trying to plan a trip. Then these challenges show up and they seem really hard.
However, after sleeping on it, we can totally complete these challenges.
I have to figure out the cupcake plan, but my kids love to bake.
My husband’s aunt is coming into town and invited us on a picnic this weekend, so we can easily check that one off of the list. We can bake and bring our baked goods to the picnic.
As I said, I didn’t read closely and one of the couple’s challenges includes us reliving a date together. AmazingCo gives examples like wearing the same outfits, eating at the same restaurant, or cooking one of the first meals that you ate together again.
I put Mark in charge of this date, and I am excited to see what he comes up with.
Week 2 Solo Challenges
Mark got his solo challenge days before me.
I woke up on Monday morning to a face and “I love you” written on the cream for my coffee.
Looking back in the fridge, there are a few faces on different products that he knows I use each morning.
For my solo challenge, I had to make Mark a scavenger hunt that ended with his favorite drink.
Week 2 Thoughts
I really need to read the directions more than once. I need to read them and remember that I have enough time to complete the challenges and they are meant to be fun. The challenges are not mandatory.
So far, we are all enjoying the challenges, but especially Maisie.
I put Mark in charge of our “first date” experience. It is funny because who even knows when our first date was or what we did?
We met on vacation in Riga, Latvia at the beginning of a 3-week tour that went through Russia and Scandinavia and ended in Denmark. He asked me partway through the tour to keep traveling with him and we went to Hungary and Romania.
I figured he would put some dill on our dinner and call it a day. Maybe we would go to a Russian restaurant.
Apparently, Mark thought of Asia when he thought about our first date as he said maybe we could find an Asian market and eat durian.
We met up in Asia a year after we met in Europe.
Kid’s Challenge Week 2 Thoughts
As predicted, the kids loved the stuffed animal hunt. They immediately re-hid their animals for Mark to find.
Going on a picnic was an easy challenge for us because we were going to be on one regardless. Picnics are a pretty regular thing for us.
We did not bake before the picnic, due to time. Then Zach got a cold and I didn’t want him baking. The kids and I bake a lot all year long, so I am not in a rush to do this challenge, as I know it will happen.
It is kind of hard for us to get a sunset silhouette right now, but that was the flash challenge, due by Monday at midnight.
We were in the car at sunset on Saturday night, so I made sure that we all stepped out on the balcony for a picture on Sunday night. We always see the prettiest sunset from our apartment.
The problem is, it is still very light out by the time the sun goes behind that big building that blocks our view from the rest of the sunset.
In our picture, you can see the sunset, but it is very bright. I edited the picture as best I could to darken it into a silhouette.
This week, Maisie has come up with a list for a decathlon between her and Mark. Originally she was going through the events that he and I had decided on for our couples challenge, but then she decided they needed their own list.
The kids have also been making scavenger hunts after they saw Mark finding his clues.
We did a makeup challenge and completed the bubbles from week 1. My kids blow bubbles all of the time, but I hadn’t gotten pictures. We ended up blowing virtual bubbles with my nieces and I took a screenshot.
Couple’s Challenge Week 2 Thoughts
Our first date challenge is proving more difficult than it needs to be. Mark was going to plan it, then asked for help. In the end, he came up with a unique idea on his own.
He made a list of the countries that we visited together the first year that we met. The plan was to head to a European market and buy something from each of the countries.
Zach got sick and now Mark is sick, so this hasn’t happened yet, but it definitely will happen. I love the idea.
For our flash challenge, we stacked up Zach’s cars and trucks. We don’t have a lot of anything, but that was a fun tower to build.
I thought about stacking suitcases as that made sense for us, but I didn’t want to get them all down from the closet.
We did not get around to painting pictures of each other yet, but again, we will.
AmazingCo Spring Challenge Week 2 Prizes
Week 2 prizes are both Mystery Picnics.
The family winner won a Family Mystery Picnic.
The couples challenge winner won a Mystery Picnic for 2.
We did not win anything this week.
I did get a DM from someone on Instagram who told me she thought our monster truck tower was awesome. It is easy to see everyone’s submission due to the hashtags #mycouplesquest and #myfamilychallenge.
Last week I clicked on the hashtag to see what other people were doing, but it spoiled the solo challenge as some people post more than just the flash challenge. I have decided that I am not going to look until after we have completed the weekly solo challenges from now on.

Week 3 AmazingCo Spring Challenge
The texts came through first, then the emails. Both were received between 5-530 on Thursday night.
Week 3 Family Challenge
Week 3 has us going on a scavenger hunt in the park, taking a picture with a baby animal, making grass heads, and putting on face masks.
I reminded myself not to freak out when I got the email. I have a list of challenges we have yet to do, and we will do what we can.
Both kids made grassy heads in pre-school. Maisie made a grassy girl and Zach made a grassy guy. They still talk about them.
I am excited about the face masks. That will be super cute. We have never done a family spa night.
Week 3 Couple’s Challenge
Make edible face masks, create a cocktail, wait for our solo challenge text, and wait for the flash challenge text.
I have nothing to freak out about this week.
In addition to the face masks, they suggest making smoothies and giving each other massages. We don’t have a blender, but the massages sound nice.
The cocktail challenge comes with Boozy Trivia for bonus points.
This week’s flash challenge hint is: Who deserves an Oscar?
Week 3 Game Plan
We have a lot of catching up to do. The flash challenges will be completed by Monday, the rest will go on our list and we will complete it all when possible.
Since the family flash challenge involves face masks, we will use that time for the couple’s challenge too.
The park scavenger hunt will be easy. They have a puzzle decoder for older kids and I may print it so that Mark and I can solve it and then the kids can find the items. They love scavenger hunts.
I will try to save the hunt until Mark is feeling better, but the kids and I go to the park daily after school so this will definitely happen.
The baby animal challenge may be tough, especially if we don’t go anywhere this weekend. Too bad this wasn’t last week when we visited Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary!
We need pantyhose and grass seeds to make the grassy guys. Luckily we have soil and cups.
Mark’s friends gave him 2 bottles of rum for his birthday so I am sure that we will both be making rum-based drinks. I actually made him a rum drink last week as my scavenger hunt ended with a rum punch in the fridge.
Bonus points sound exciting, but I realized we aren’t collecting points. Are we? Maybe they will help in the final challenge. We have to complete all 20 challenges in order to enter the final challenge, but we only need to post the flash challenges each week.
Week 3 Solo Challenges
I got my text on Sunday afternoon and was instructed to make a 10-song playlist that triggers special memories of our time together.
Mixtapes are so fun, but I haven’t ever made one for a significant other.
Mark and I don’t like much of the same music, but it was not too hard to come up with 10 songs that mean something to both of us. We have known each other for 13 years.
Making a playlist is my favorite challenge so far.
I woke up Monday morning to breakfast in bed, which was Mark’s solo challenge.
Week 3 Thoughts
I printed out the scavenger hunt puzzles right away and the kids helped solve them. They weren’t as tough as I originally thought.
We brought the scavenger hunt with us when the kids took their scooters out and found a few items.
AmazingCo offers a bunch of extra things like playlists and recipes. I clicked on the trivia and saw that there are questions and answers. I guess there aren’t real bonus points for completing it.
When I went to the store to buy grass seeds, I didn’t see any, but I saw these cute grass head creatures so we used those instead. I did finally buy sunflower seeds so that we could grow our sunflowers.
Both kids were excited to see their grassy animals. Maisie claimed the koala, Zach picked the kangaroo, I chose the turtle, and Mark got the Tasmanian devil. It was easy to add water to the dirt pellet and plant the grass seeds.
Mark stayed home from work for 2 days and when he was starting to feel better, we did the drawing/painting competition from week 2. We definitely are not artists, but it was fun.
I thought the kids would love the face masks. We don’t have avocado so I found a recipe using oatmeal and coconut oil. Maisie flat-out refused to put any on her face. Zach let me put a little bit on and Maisie eventually put a drop on after I told her she wouldn’t get to share the prize if we won. They were both excited to put cucumbers on their eyes (and eat them).
On Saturday morning I got the couple’s flash challenge text. We are supposed to recreate an iconic movie scene. Titanic is the first one we both thought of.
We ended up recreating a scene in E.T.
By Monday we finished and caught up on, all of the couple’s challenges.
We haven’t completed the animal challenge yet, and we still have last week’s baking challenge to finish for the family challenge.
AmazingCo Spring Challenge Week 3 Prizes
This week’s family prize is a family pass to your local zoo or wildlife center.
Week 3 couple’s challenge winners get a collection of games for games night.
We did not win anything this week.

Week 4 AmazingCo Spring Challenge
I tried to look up the challenge early this week, but it was not up until late Thursday afternoon.
Week 4 Family Challenge
This week we have to write a letter, sing our favorite songs, make slime, and recreate an iconic movie scene.
Week 4 Couple’s Challenge
We are supposed to make a budget and buy each other outfits from an Op Shop and then go out on a date.
Also, we are supposed to carve pumpkins.
The other two challenges will be texted to us in the next few days.
Week 4 Game Plan
Writing a letter is easy, as is singing our favorite songs.
We will be carving pumpkins with the kids this week anyway, so that is another easy one.
I already have a few ideas for the movie scene, since that was the couple’s challenge last week. I think Mark holding Maisie up like the pose in Dirty Dancing will be fun. Then he can hold Zach up like the Lion King.
That leaves slime.
Ugh.
I do not want to make slime.
We still need to bake and take a picture with an animal.
The plan this weekend is to head to Scenic Rim for a farm day, so hopefully, we will find an animal there to photograph.
Everyone is feeling well, so baking will definitely happen this week.
Week 4 Solo Challenges
My solo challenge arrived on Saturday. I am supposed to prank Mark by putting on a wig or a scary mask when he is asleep so that when he wakes up and sees me he doesn’t know what is happening.
I don’t have a wig or a mask, but I bought plastic spiders and put one on my pillow when Mark was in the shower and I pretended to be asleep.
It was really fun to see him try to get the spider off of my pillow while not waking me up.
Mark did not receive his solo challenge this week.
Week 4 Thoughts
We finally got a picture with a baby animal for the family challenge.
Writing letters was easy, but singing our favorite songs was a little harder.
We made oobleck slime and of course, the kids loved it, but it made a huge mess.
For the movie, we recreated Beauty and the Beast. Maisie was Beauty, Mark was the beast, and Zach was Chip the teacup. We won’t win for that, but it was fun and the kids enjoyed it.
We finally got to the baking challenge. Instead of making cupcakes, we made mug cakes.
The couple’s flash challenge was to take a picture upside down. I have vertigo, so it is hard, but we learned over a bench at the farm and that is the best we can do. Again, we won’t win this week, but that is okay. Even though I would love this week’s prize!
Mark and I went to the Op Shop separately, due to time, but we met up for a lunch date and wore our new shirts. I was surprised at how well he did with that challenge.
AmazingCo Spring Challenge Week 4 Prizes
The family challenge prize this week is a collection of party supplies including a popcorn machine, fairy floss maker, disco lights, and a bubble machine.
Couple challenge winners get to choose between a coffee machine or an ice cream-making set.
Not surprisingly, we did not win anything this week.

Final Weekend AmazingCo Spring Challenge
Our challenges were sent on Thursday evening.
We weren’t home, we were at a school event, but I quickly read the challenges.
It is a long weekend and we are leaving town in the morning, so I wanted to make sure that if there was something that we needed to do at home we could do it before leaving.
For some reason, I thought that the challenge ended on Sunday because it was the last day of the month.
The challenge doesn’t end until November 3, so we have more time if we need it.
Final Weekend Family Challenge
This week we need to carve pumpkins, make paper airplanes, roll down a hill, and find wildflowers.
Final Weekend Couple’s Challenge
For the final week, we need to make a fort, have a blindfold battle, and wait for our solo challenge and flash challenge to be texted to us.
Game Plan
The kids already carved their pumpkins, so we just took a picture. Rolling down a hill and finding wildflowers should be easy to do while on vacation. I will bring paper for airplane races in the hotel room.
We are making a fort before we leave, and we will play the blindfolded games tonight when the kids go to bed.
All that is left is to wait for our texts.
Final Solo Challenges
We both had the same challenge this week.
Prepare a bucket list of things you want to do together before Christmas and deliver it Sunday morning.
Neither one of us had paper, but one of the kids did, so we wrote our notes and handed them to each other on Sunday.
Final Weekend Thoughts
We weren’t able to do the blindfold games before leaving as we did not have all of the supplies. We do not mind waiting to do a chocolate taste test properly!
Finding wildflowers was easy, and Mark ended up getting his week 4 solo challenge while we were away. He had to pick wildflowers for me.
Our flash challenge was to paint each other’s faces. We didn’t have time to buy paint so we used lipstick.
The paper airplane race was fun.
Though there were lots of good hills when we were away, it was rainy. The kids attempted to roll down a hill in the city, but they didn’t get too far.
We finally baked this week! I decided on mug cakes as we don’t have a cupcake pan.
It is Sunday, October 31, and we are officially done with the AmazingCo Spring Family Challenge and the AmazingCo Spring Couples Challenge.
Prizes
The final family prize is an ice cream maker and toolset.
The couple’s challenge winner gets a $300 Good Food gift card.
We did not win any prizes this week.

AmazingCo Video Challenge Wrap-Up
After finishing the challenge, there is one more thing to do.
In order to enter the grand prize challenge, you need to download an app called 1 second every day and upload your pictures in order to make a video of your challenges. Then email your video to AmazingCo and you are entered.
I was a little bit frustrated that I had to sign up for a “free trial” of the app, which included giving them my credit card details. In order to sign up for a free week, I had to commit to a $49.99/year purchase.
Of course, I canceled my subscription as soon as I made my videos, but I had to google how to cancel! It was not easy.
I mean, it was easy when I knew how to do it, but it wasn’t obvious.
The actual app took me a few minutes to understand.
I didn’t put too much effort into my videos, as editing is not something I excel in, but hopefully, that does not matter too much.
It was fun looking back on all of the challenges.
Top 5 Family Challenges
- Write a letter
- Recreate a movie
- Paper airplane races
- Grow grassy guys
- Family pyramid
Top 5 Couple’s Challenges
- Record a video on how you first met and go on a date reminiscent of your first date
- Make a 10-song playlist
- Bring home a favorite dessert
- OP Shop Challenge and date
- Paint a picture of each other
AmazingCo Spring Challenge Wrap Up
I would absolutely do another challenge with AmazingCo, but I would most likely do 1 at a time.
We enjoyed the couple’s challenge a lot more than we anticipated. The challenges were fun and out of the everyday norm for us.
While we had fun with the family challenge, we are more likely to do those things on our own. Of course, some were new to us, and all (except the slime) were fun. Okay, the slime was fun but messy.
I recommend these challenges for couples and families who are looking for something fun to do together.
Of course, my 7-year-old is ready for the next challenge. I am wondering if I can just get a couple’s challenge and include the kids in some of the challenges next time.
