Intercontinental Fiji with Kids Resort Guide
Are you planning a holiday at the Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa?
With so many amazing resorts in Fiji, it is hard to know where to stay. We spent a few nights at the Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa with the kids, and it is by far the nicest resort I have ever stayed at.
Every moment at the Intercontinental Resort made us feel special and relaxed, from the beating drums announcing our arrival to the last day when we were picked up from our bure in a golf cart.

Arriving at Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort

Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa is located about an hour south of Nadi International Airport (NAN) on the Coral Coast of Fiji’s largest island.
We opted to rent a car, but those who don’t want to drive in Fiji can book a luxury transfer to the resort.
Would you like to take a private van to the resort? Find options for hotel transfers here.
As soon as we turned down the road leading to the Intercontinental Resort, we saw a wild pig on the side of the road.

We drove down the long entryway, past security, and parked at the front of the main building. As soon as we drove up, a man started banging on a Lami, a type of drum that is popular in Fiji. Everyone who arrives to check in at the Intercontinental is announced with music.
As we danced our way to the front of the building, we were each given a shell necklace. Right after receiving our necklaces, the adults were offered a welcome drink.
Rum punch and gin and tonic were offered on the day we arrived. We both picked rum punch.

Checking-In

⭐ 4.6/5 🗺️ Natadola ✅ Book Now
After the warm welcome, we made our way to the check-in desk.
Unlike a typical hotel lobby, there are padded benches for the guests to sit on as they check in. We were handed information on the hotel, including activities happening that week.

Unfortunately, our hotel room was not quite ready, but we were offered free drinks in the bar downstairs while we waited.
I turned them down as I was finishing my welcome drink, and I don’t drink much, but the room was ready about 5 minutes later.
The rooms are spread out over the massive property, and a staff member drives you and your suitcases in a golf cart to your accommodation.

We used Cover-More as our travel insurance provider.

Intercontinental Room Options Round-Up

We chose a garden view room as it was the most budget-friendly option. Our room was on the 2nd floor of Bure 17, which is near the spa, kids club, fitness center, and gym.
While some of the bathtubs are in view of those walking by, our balcony was rarely seen by passersby and seemed pretty private. There are curtains on the balcony, but we never closed them.
I spent a lot of time sitting on the daybed on the balcony, both in the early morning and at night.
The kids loved having a bathtub on the balcony; it was one of their favorite parts of the entire holiday.
We ate the snacks on the desk, and they were replenished at no cost, but when we asked about the drinks in the mini-fridge, we were told they are not complimentary.
Restaurants and Bars at Intercontinental Fiji
Sanasana

Located downstairs from the lobby, Sanasana is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily.
An early morning continental breakfast is available before the regular morning breakfast buffet.
The breakfast buffet is located at Sanasana and is included in some of the accommodation packages. While some of the options at the breakfast buffet change daily, in general, there is a fresh juice station, a pancake station, and an egg station as well as pastries, a salad bar, soup, cereal, and hot savory dishes such as rice, noodles, and curries.
An à la carte lunch menu is available for a few hours each afternoon. View the menu here.
For dinner service, there is a buffet at Sanasana each evening. The theme of the buffet changes daily, and the menu items reflect the theme. The price of the dinner buffet changes depending on the theme.
TIP: Save $20 per person by sitting down for the dinner buffet between 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm.
Navo
More of an upscale restaurant than Sanasana, Navo is open for breakfast and dinner, and some hours are for adults only.
The dress code at Navo is smart casual, with collared shirts and closed-toed shoes preferred.
Breakfast at Navo is for adults only. Children are welcome during the early dinner service, but then it turns into an adult-only restaurant.
Navo offers a degustation menu as well as a standard menu. Click here to see both menu options.
With 24 hours’ notice, guests can order a meal from Navo to be served at a beach cabana, or guests can order dinner under the stars.
Toba Bar and Grill

Located between the family pool and the adult-only pool is a casual restaurant that is open for lunch and dinner.
Toba Bar and Grill serves salads, seafood, pizza, burgers, and more. Click here to view the menu.
Live music is often played at Toba Bar and Grill.
Kama Lounge

At the end of the main building, near the beach, is Kama Lounge. While meals are not served at Kama Lounge, both drinks and snacks are. The snacks are generally big enough to count as a meal. Live music takes place at Kama Lounge, as does other weekly entertainment.
Click here to view the Kama Lounge menu.
Happy hour is from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily.
Deep South Premium New Zealand Ice Cream

Located near the pools, Deep South Premium New Zealand Ice Cream offers ice cream with topping choices.
While the ice cream shop does not have any seating, there are plenty of chairs located by the pool.
Eating out at Intercontinental Fiji Wrap-Up

The breakfast buffet was included in our room rate, and we enjoyed our breakfast every morning at Sanasana.
As soon as we were seated, someone asked what kind of coffee we would like and if the kids wanted hot chocolate or babycinos. Both fresh-pressed juice and a juice station are located at the buffet.

There are plenty of options at the Sanasana breakfast buffet for everyone, including vegetarian and gluten-free options.
The Sanasana breakfast buffet was both the adults’ and kids’ favorite meal at Intercontinental Fiji.
We never ate lunch at the Intercontinental Fiji. One day we were full from breakfast and just got ice cream from Deep South by the pool. On the other days, we ate off-site.

During the day, we ordered drinks from Kama Lounge and enjoyed them in a beach cabana.

On our first night in Fiji, we ate by the pool at Toba Bar and Grill. I ordered a salmon poke bowl and enjoyed listening to the live music.

One night, we had a dinner buffet. The theme didn’t mean much to us, and we didn’t know what to expect. While we enjoyed our meal, and there were lots of options, all of us preferred the breakfast buffet.
As we rented a car, we ate outside of the resort for a few meals. We didn’t even pack clothes that would be appropriate at Navo.
Swimming Pool Options
For those who do not book a room with a private pool, there are 2 swimming pool options for everyone and an additional swimming pool for those staying at Club Intercontinental.
Pool towels are available at the Leisure Concierge.
TIP: A filtered water fountain is located between the pools for those who want to refill their reusable water bottles.
Family Activity Pool

The only pool that kids not staying at Club Intercontinental can swim in, the Family Activity Pool, has varying depths, but is generally shallow.
One end of the pool has a small splash park.
The ends of the pool have sun shades, but the middle does not. The Family Activity Pool is too large to photograph all at once; the shape prohibits seeing it in its entirety.
Beach lounge chairs are set up around the pool. Towels are available from the Leisure Concierge, which is located near Toma Bar and Grill, between the family activity pool and the adult-only infinity pool.
Adult-Only Infinity Pool

On the far end of Toma Bar and Grill, by the beach, is the adult-only infinity pool.
Lounge chairs are set up around the infinity pool.
Kids can walk through the area, though anyone under 16 years old is not allowed in the infinity pool.

Planet Trekkers Kids Club

Kids 4-12 can attend Planet Trekkers Kids Club, where there are 3 separate sessions each day. Kids under 4 can participate only if they are there with a resort Nanny.
While each session includes a snack, no meals are served at Planet Trekkers Kids Club.
The morning session runs from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, afternoon sessions run from 2 pm to 5 pm, and evening sessions run from 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm, but of course, parents can pick their children up at any time.
Each session has a different theme, and each night ends with a movie.
Our kids opted not to go to the kids’ club, and we didn’t hire a nanny.
Beach

One of the things that separates Intercontinental from other resorts in Fiji is beach access. Intercontinental Fiji is located on Natadola Beach.
Staff cleans the beach of driftwood and seaweed each morning.

Large beach cabanas line Natadola Beach and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Signed on the cabanas ask guests not to reserve them by leaving their belongings on them.

We sat on a beach cabana for a good part of the day while the kids played in the sand and in the ocean. Most of the cabanas were empty during the time we were there, and other times when we walked along the beach.
Each cabana has a large bed inside as well as 2 pillows.
A QR code leading to a drink menu is located in the cabana, but to order a drink, you need to walk into Kama Lounge. Your drinks and snacks will be brought out to your cabana.

Spa

Offering various massages, facials, nail services, and waxing, the Spa at Intercontinental Fiji has a large menu of options.
In addition to services offered inside the spa, there are beachside services offered in cabanas.
Groups of friends or couples can rent out the Orchid Room at Spa Intercontinental. The Orchid Room has a dedicated treatment area, relaxation lounge, steam showers, and a plunge pool.
Pre and post-treatment, guests can use the Wai Zone, which includes a steam room, hydrotherapy pool, and an ice room.
Golf Course
Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course is an 18-hole golf course where most of the holes have a view of the Pacific Ocean.
While resort guests are welcome to book a tee time, occasionally the course is closed for an event.
In addition to the 18-hole course, there is a practice fairway, golf shop, restaurant, bar, and golf classes.
Fitness Center

Located near the Kids’ Club, the gym at Intercontinental Fiji is open 24 hours a day.
A filtered water fountain is located inside the gym.
Activity Booking Desk
Located downstairs from the lobby, next to Sanasana Restaurant, there is a desk where you can learn about and book activities that take place off the resort property.
If you would rather book an activity before you arrive, here are a few fun options.
- Mud Pools and Garden of the Sleeping Giant Tour from the Coral Coast
- River Tubing with Coral Coast pick-up
- Robinson Crusoe Sunset Cruise with dinner and a cultural show, including hotel pick up
- Coral Coast and Village School Tour
- Tivua Island Full-Day Excursion
Bula Bus

Between 7 a.m. and 10:30 p.m., guests can get around the Intercontinental Resort property on a Bula Bus.
Bus stops are located throughout the property.
We never felt the need to ride in a Bula Bus, but they are a great option, especially for those with younger kids, as the Intercontinental Fiji is quite spread out.

Medical Center

An Emergency Medical Services Center is located near the Kids’ Club and Fitness Center.
A doctor is on call 24 hours a day.
Wedding Chapel

One of my kids is already planning their destination wedding after seeing the beautiful wedding chapel located just off the beach.

Meetings and Conferences

While we didn’t have a meeting or conference to attend, I stumbled upon the meeting rooms one day.
Intercontinental Fiji has a beautiful space and quite a few rooms available. Find more information on meetings and event spaces here.
Shops
Whether you forgot an item or want to purchase a souvenir, there are quite a few options for shopping at the Intercontinental Fiji Resort.
Most of the shops are located downstairs in the main building near Sanasana Restaurant. Sometimes, there are locals who set their merchandise on sheets on the floor near the shops.
The shops range from a general store with food and toiletries to a souvenir shop to a jewelry shop. Stamps are located in the general store, though no postcards are available to purchase.
Free postcards from the hotel are available at the front desk.
Another shop is located near the Family Adventure Pool and Tabo Restaurant. The shop by the pool sells hats, beachwear, and clothing.

Checking Out
When it is time to check out of your room, call the front desk to request a golf cart to take your luggage.
Located at the very front of the lobby is a Fiji Airways desk where you can check in, saving time at the airport.
While we weren’t able to leave our luggage there, it was weighed and entered into the system. We were given a counter number to visit at Nadi Airport on arrival.
We were able to skip the check-in line and head directly to drop off our bags before going through security.
Intercontinental Fiji with Kids Wrap-Up
Every member of our family, both adults and kids, fully enjoyed our stay at the Intercontinental Fiji.
From check-in to check-out, we felt as though we were truly on holiday, even though we never booked our kids into the kids’ club.
The staff at Intercontinental Fiji is the friendliest bunch of people I have ever encountered. We had positive experiences with everyone we met in Fiji, but the Intercontinental staff was amazing.
I noticed that even though almost everywhere in the world is currently understaffed, Intercontinental Fiji has a very large staff.
We never had to wait; someone was always there to help.
Even on our early morning walks, the staff was working hard in the gardens, on the beach, and in the restaurant. Everyone stops to say “Bula” as you walk past.
If you are planning to go to Fiji with your kids, I highly recommend the Intercontinental Resort.
