The Local Parklakes, Bli Bli
At first glance, The Local Parklakes looks like a playground with a (really adorable) shelter, not a kid-friendly restaurant on the Sunshine Coast.
Breakfast and lunch are served at The Local Parklakes daily, and they are open later on the weekends. Their large menu includes eggs, French toast, and pancakes for breakfast and burgers and pizzas for lunch. The Local Parklakes has vegan options.
Live music is often performed at The Local Parklakes on the weekend.

The Ginger Kitchen, Ginger Factory, Yandina

The Ginger Factory is one of my kids’ favorite places to go (read our review here), and they love The Ginger Kitchen.
The cafe is outside, under a roof, and next to a completely fenced-in playground. The playground is divided into 2 sections so younger kids can play on one end, and older kids can play on the other.
Parking is free at the Ginger Factory, and you don’t have to pay to eat at the Ginger Kitchen or play on the playground.
The Ginger Kitchen is open for breakfast and lunch daily.
All kinds of snacks are served at The Ginger Kitchen, in addition to their main meals. There are plenty of gluten-free and vegan options at The Ginger Kitchen. The kids’ menu includes nuggets and chips, falafel, and salad. My kids love to get scones with ginger jam.
If you want dessert, across from The Ginger Cafe is Gingerlatis, which serves homemade gelato, gingerbread men, and other tasty treats.
Coolum Beach Hotel, Coolum
Kids can play in the indoor playground while their parents watch from their table at Coolum Beach Hotel. The indoor playground at Coolum Beach Hotel is fully enclosed and has windows, making it a fun, kid-friendly restaurant on the Sunshine Coast.
Open for lunch and dinner daily, Coolum Beach Hotel has lots of options from traditional Aussie pub food to oysters to salads. The kids’ menu includes steak, chicken nuggets, and spaghetti bolognese, and each kid’s meal includes a drink and dessert.
Kawana Waters Hotel, Kawana Waters
Located on the Mooloolah River on the Sunshine Coast, Kawana Waters Hotel is a kid-friendly restaurant with an undercover playground outside.
There is a large menu at Kawana Waters Hotel, filled with options for pizza, fish, salads, steak, and schnitzels. The kids’ menu has similar options to the main menu.
Chancellors Tavern, Sippy Downs
Chancellors Tavern in Sippy Downs has an outdoor playground and a “build your own” menu for kids, making it a family-friendly restaurant on the Sunshine Coast.
Kids can choose their main meal, 2 sides, and a sauce to complete their meal.
Chancellors Tavern is open for lunch and dinner daily.
North Shore Tavern, Pacific Paradise
Kids can play on the playground in the inside kids’ room at North Shore Tavern, and there is free face painting on Friday nights.
Open daily for lunch and dinner, North Shore Tavern has both indoor and outdoor seating. Their kids’ meals include a drink, dessert, and an activity pack.
Kid-Friendly Restaurants and Pubs with Play Spaces on the Sunshine Coast
The Velo Project, Mooloolaba
The Velo Project has both indoor and covered outdoor seating, and there is a small play area for the kids outside, under a roof for shade. Games are available to play at the tables at The Velo Project as well.
Open for breakfast and lunch daily, The Velo Project has lots of gluten-free and vegan items. Their kids’ menu includes toasties and crepes.
There is a wide variety of coffees, juices, and smoothies available at The Velo Project.

CK Coffee Bar, Mooloolaba
CK Coffee Bar in Mooloolaba prides itself on being a healthy alternative for meals on the Sunshine Coast. They are open daily for breakfast and lunch, and their menu includes eggs, bowls, French toast, wraps, and burgers. The kid’s menu at CK Coffee Bar is healthier than a typical kids’ menu, but still has great options that kids love.
There is a small area of toys and books geared at younger kids at CK Coffee Bar, making it a kid-friendly restaurant on the Sunshine Coast.

Kelly’s of Peregian, Peregian
Whether the kids want to be inside or outside, there is something fun for them to do at Kelly’s of Peregian.
Outside, kids can climb a tree or play in the sandbox. There is also a grassy area for kids to run around at Kelly’s of Peregian.
If you would rather stay inside, Kelly’s of Peregin has a play area inside with toys and a cubby house.
Kelly’s of Peregian is open for breakfast and lunch daily, and their menu is Modern Australian. The kids’ menu at Kelly’s of Peregian includes eggs and pancakes for breakfast and chicken or toasties for lunch.
Currimundi Hotel, Currimundi
Let the kids play in the kids’ zone at the family-friendly Currimundi Hotel on the Sunshine Coast.

Your Mate’s Brewing Company, Warana
Your Mate’s Brewing Company is a kid-friendly pub on the Sunshine Coast, with a kids’ play area inside. The brewery is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday-Sunday.
The menu at Your Mate’s Brewing Company includes a 1-kilogram parma challenge. There are plenty of options, including vegan and gluten-free options, for those who don’t want to attempt the parma challenge. The kid’s menu at Your Mate’s Brewing Company includes mac and cheese, popcorn chicken, and a picnic plate.
Buderim Tavern, Buderim
Open daily for breakfast and lunch, the Buderim Tavern is fun for kids with an indoor playground.
There are 2 restaurants in Buderim Tavern: a steakhouse and a sports bar. The steakhouse, of course, serves steak, but they also serve pub favorites, share platters, and lots of vegan and gluten-free options. The kids’ menu inside the steakhouse at Buderim Tavern includes pizza, spaghetti, chicken tenders, and steak.
Golden Beach Tavern, Caloundra
Kids will definitely enjoy the outside play area, complete with a climbing wall and a sandpit at Golden Beach Tavern in Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast.
The menu at Golden Beach Tavern has a little (or a lot) of everything, from pizzas, burgers, and steaks to salads, fish, and pasta. There are vegan and gluten-free options at Golden Beach Tavern. The kids’ menu includes chicken nuggets, fish and chips, and spaghetti bolognese.

Parklands Tavern, Meridan Plains
The kids’ room at Parklands Tavern has multiple PlayStations and a TV with kids’ shows and movies playing.
Kids eat free on Sundays after 5:30 p.m. at Parklands Tavern on the Sunshine Coast.
The bistro at Parklands Tavern is open for lunch and dinner daily, and there are daily lunch and dinner specials. The menu changes seasonally. The kids’ menu includes a dessert with each meal.
Caloundra RSL, Caloundra
Kids can play in the fully supervised kids’ club for free if you are an RSL member. The kids’ club at Caloundra RSL is good for kids ages 3-17 and includes video games, movies, board games, and arts and crafts.
Kids can play in the RSL kids’ club for up to 3 hours. The “Cosmic Cave” kids’ club is only open on Friday and Saturday nights.
Membership to the Caloundra RSL is $3/year or $12/5 years.
Kids eat free at Caloundra RSL on Sunday-Thursday nights with an adult meal purchase.
Maroochy RSL, Maroochydore
Kids of all ages can play in the Kid Zone, which is open all day at the Maroochy RSL. The kids’ zone has music, games, and climbing equipment. Parents are in charge of their kids while they play in the kids’ zone at Maroochy RSL.
For breakfast and lunch at Maroochy RSL, the cafe is open. Lunch and dinner are served in the Bistro. The kids’ meals include ice cream.
Kids eat free with the purchase of an adult meal on Sundays, and there is face painting for kids on Sundays.
Brightwater Hotel, Mountain Creek
Kids eat free every Sunday after 5:30 p.m. at Brightwater Hotel in Mountain Creek, and they can play in the game room daily.
The bistro is open for lunch and dinner, and the game room has multiple PlayStations and arcade games as well as a TV showing kids’ shows and movies.
Terella Brewing, North Arm
Terella Brewing doesn’t have a playground or game room, but they do have lots of space for kids to play, and they encourage playing. They have balls and cricket sets as well as outdoor games such as giant Jenga and corn hole. Terella Brewing also encourages families to bring along scooters, skateboards, and whatever the kids want to play with.
Open Friday-Sunday for lunch and dinner, Terella Brewing doesn’t have a standard menu, and instead they have food trucks. Check their schedule to see which food truck will be there and what band will be playing.
Located on a farm, there is also a petting zoo for kids at Terella Brewing on the Sunshine Coast. To access the farmyard, everyone needs a ticket. The farmyard is only open for a few hours on the weekends.
Sunshine Coast Indoor Playgrounds with Cafes
Jujuba, Caloundra
Open late 2025, Jujuba has a small cafe attached to its play area, which is geared towards younger kids ages 0-6.
Entry to the play area requires a play pass, which can be purchased by the day. The price depends on the age of your child.
The cafe at Jujuba serves kid-friendly basics, including chicken nuggets, fairy bread, and ham & cheese toasties, as well as smoothies and coffee.
Rush Adventureland, Maroochydore
Located in Sunshine Plaza in Maroochydore, Rush Adventureland has an indoor playground as well as a cafe.
Kids’ meals are available. Their menu includes pizza, burgers, toasties, hot dogs, and chips.
Passes at Rush Adventureland can be booked by age and include multiple activtites including a climbing wall, ninja course, bumper cars, and a rush coaster.
Ninja Jungle, Forest Glen
Eat at the Forest Blend Cafe while the kids play on Queensland’s largest ninja gym.
This is perfect for families wanting healthier options.
Sunshine Coast Restaurants That Closed
Izba Espresso, Birtinya
Unfortunately, Izba Espresso is permanently closed.
The outside playground at Izba Espresso is perfect for kids who like to climb.
Izba Espresso is open for breakfast and lunch daily. The kids’ menu includes eggs and toast for breakfast and toasties or burgers for lunch.
Seating at Izba Espresso is outdoors under a roof, and the playground has sunshades.
